"Gentlement of Rio en Medio" Literary Question #9

            If Don Anselmo were the narrator, the story will change a lot. Because the story will have what Don Anselmo thought, emotions and motivation. And because the narrator doesn't know completely about Don Anselmo. And the story will just talked about how he act. If he were a narrator, we will know if he was smart or cautious about the problems when he doesn't say anything about the tree.We''ll know that he sold the house cheap because he don't wanted to be insulted. Those are all what I think that what happened in the story when Don Anselmo were the narrator.

"Stop The Sun" Literary Focus Question # 5

            In the story "Stop The Sun", Terry and his mother have a different way to support Terry's father. I think that they have a different idea about father. That is why they have different way. For mother, she avoid telling Terry the reason why his father becomes like that. Then, she didn't want Terry to asking his father, she prevent him. For example, in page 269, Terry asked his mother a lot, but she didn't want to answers. I think that his mother didn't want Terry make his father to remembered back the bad things by questioning. Because that might shock him and caused sickness.
            For Terry himself, Terry wondered a lot and wanted to ask his father for a lot of thing about what caused him like that and what happened at Vietnam War. Terry think that the good way to helped him was to talk to him. I think that Terry think that that will make his father become like other people in his life. After he talked to him, he know what going on and find a ways to help him. For example, from page 272 until the end, he has a long conversation with his father about war. That might help both Terry and his father.
           After seeing both characters, I think that these two have some same and different idea. Terry and his mother wanted to support and protect Terry's father. But, his mother didn't wanted Terry to disturb his father and Terry wanted to help his father in a different way. After this story, I understand more about what caused people to misery, that was war.

Stop The Sun's Vocabulary

Olympus (short story)

Olympus

In the mighty Olympus, where all the strongest gods lived, where all the nice and beautiful things are, where the clear cloud and sky are, where you can hear the sound of the birds. Inside the enormous building that was made of gold, where Zeus was sitting on the throne and next to him was Hercules, Hercules standing there to help Zeus if he need. Around him were all the gods are gathered together. The air in Olympus was very hot because it was in middle of summer. Olympus like they have a gigantic fire ball that falls into it.

In Olympus, everyone was living happy together. In ranking, Zeus was the most powerful gods of all. He was known as “King of Gods”. No one can beat him. His hand was as hard as a rock. When he used his hand in the battle, the enemy will die. When other enemy saw him, the enemy’s face likes an ill people and they run away. But, in the Olympus, other gods always respected him. Zeus most powerful weapons was lightning. Hera was Zeus’s wife and they gave birth to Hercules.  Not only Hercules, but other heroes were born by Zeus and Hera. Hercules also had the power of Zeus; he had a tough body that like it was made of metal. Hercules could run very fast, as fast as he could run on water. Even he young, but he had made a lot of helping for his father and other gods. Each day passing, Zeus was like show off and confident about his powers as “King of the Gods”. He thought that he was the only that can control Olympus. That started to make everyone stay away from him. No one talk to him anymore, even his family. One day, other gods couldn’t stand for Zeus’s selfish and show off anymore. They not feel comfortable; they feel like Olympus that time was like a jail. Because Zeus not act fair with other people anymore, that would be bad for Zeus. Then, other gods have a meeting about Zeus’s attitude and how to solve the problem. They did this meeting in a secret place so Zeus and other people would not know. This meeting was made by Hades and Poseidon.

“Hey you guys, what do you guys think about Zeus” one god said.

“I think he just stupid and because he was the king and he think that he was the best” said Hades.

“We should push Zeus out of his throne?” said other god.

“I think I would be a good person to replace Zeus as the “King of the Gods”. Because I was the second strongest god” said Poseidon.

“NO!!! I will be a good person for replace Zeus” said Hades

Then, they have a long argument. But, they think that talking is not a good way. And they decided to have a fight. And who win after the fight will replace Zeus. Then, unlucky for them, Hermes was one of Zeus son saw that and run back to tell what happened for Zeus. Zeus was surprise and quickly run to the place where they have a fight. But, he was too late. The fight had been started, fire and water was shooting everywhere. It was like the most terrified battlefield. He said to them “STOP!!!!” but no one listened to him because they were not respect him anymore. Then he asked other people for help, but no one accept it. Because of respect Zeus and family, Hercules accepts to help Zeus. He talks to other gods in order to calm them down. But no one listen, so he screams the loudest voice that he could do

“STOP EVERYONE!!!!!!!” Hercules was screaming

Then, every god stops their fighting.

“Why we should stop?” said Poseidon

“You are my dad’s brother and why you wanted to started a war and push Zeus out of his place?” said Hercules.

“Because he was show off his powers and doesn’t respect anyone” said Hades.

“We respect him and he doesn’t respect us” said other god.

“Did you guys even try to talk to my dad in a conversation?” said Hercules.

“Why should we, if he doesn’t accept to not be show off anymore? We think it is good way to fight, right?” said Poseidon.

“No, we are one family and we don’t need to hurt each other. Will you change your personality for peace, dad?” said Hercules.

“Ahhh... Yes, I will” said Zeus.

Thanks to Hercules, everything went back to normal. At that time, Zeus’s hero was Hercules. If Hercules wasn’t accepting the request, Olympus would break apart. Then, Poseidon and other gods stopped the fight because Zeus changed his personality about how he acted. After that, Zeus wasn’t want this to happen anymore, he was friendly and fair with other god again. 

Zeus learnt a good thing, that is don’t ever show off or disrespect other people. That will make you sad like no one respect you anymore and no one talk to you anymore. And don’t just because you have powers, you’re not the best. That was the most important lessons for Zeus

Kratos the God of War.

             Kratos is a character that was in a game. Kratos has a solemn and evil face. His angry emotion was deep into his brown-yellow eyes. His body was tough, that make Kratos become an incredible enemy for other. He doesn't have hair and have a big scar on his eye, that make him more like a scary warrior through out his fight. His hand was strong as steel. He has two blades that were connected together, and that two blades can be flying around on the air. He was muscle man, he was enormous like a god. When he run, he run like wind. When he talk to someone, he talk in like god. How he fight was like Hercules fight against Medusa. The way he act and fight show that he have a good skill.

Page 177 homework, conduct an interview.

Yesterday, I did an interview on Jennifer, a girl that is my friend and come from Norway. The following conversation is what we talk about the interview.

Me: Hi.

Jennifer: Hi.

Me: How are you today?

Jennifer: I´m fine thank. 

Me: So, today I want to interview you about different culture and other things.

Jennifer: Yeah, ok. Just ask me what you want to know.

 Me: So, where does your parents born?

Jennifer: My mom was born in Vietnam and my father was born in Norway.

Me: Then, you're half Vietnam and half Norway, right?

Jennifer: Yeah, But most Norwegian.

Me: Next, what are your favourite foods?

Jennifer: Pizza, French fries, komle, pinnekjøtt, sushi and kichi kichi.

Me: Pinnekjot something, that food is in Norway, right?

Jennifer: Yeah, pinnekjøtt and komle are Norwegian foods.

Me: Ok, that sounds weird.

Jennifer: HeHe.

Me: What do you most enjoy doing?

Me: Like sports or activity, games.

Jennifer: I used to dance, sing, play handball, play basketball, hanging with my friends and shopping too.

Me: Wow, those are a lot of things.

Jennifer: HeHe.

Jennifer: There are more, but I’m too lazy to tell you everything.

Me: Ok, fine.

Me: What is most important to you in your life?

Jennifer: I think education.

Me: Why did you think about education?

 Not about relaxing or else?

Jennifer: I don´t know.

Jennifer: About the question I think it is important because if we have a good education we can have a good job.

Jennifer: That why??

Jennifer: I think.

Me: Ok, Is yours parents factor is what you achieve in school.

Me: So, can we continue the interview.

Jennifer: Uh huh.

Me: Ok, Is yours parents factor is what you achieve in school.

Jennifer: What did you mean by that?

Me: Mean like yours parents are foreigner, so if you're parents good mean that you have what your parents have and achieve good things.

Jennifer: Ah....

Jennifer: Think so.

Jennifer: I don´t know.

Me: So, how do you interact with other people that different than you?

Me: Like you're Norwegian, and other people are Vietnamese. So, how can you talk and respond to them?

Jennifer: It´s normal for me because I have lived in Vietnam before so it ‘not hard for me.

Jennifer: but sometimes people are talking Vietnamese, and it can be a little bit difficult for me to understand everything.

Jennifer: When they speak slowly it´s easier to understand, but if they speak to fast I have to ask them to say it one more time.

Me: Oh, okay.

Jennifer: done??

Me: Not yet.

Me: What is your favourite incident of your country?

Me: Incident mean like event.

Jennifer: How can I explain it?

Jennifer: ......

Me: Just say what your favourite event is.

Me: Like holiday.

Jennifer: That Vietnam has different holidays Tet and something like that and Norway doesn´t have??

Me: Ok.

Me: That are all the questions that I want to ask.

Me: Thanks.

After the interview, I found out that Jennifer and I both like to play sport. And she also like Tet like me, I think because that we get lucky money in Tet’s days. Her favourite foods are kind of weird, because the name is so strange to me. Her mother was born in Vietnam; her father was born in Norway. I wonder that how can they met each other. This one is different than my parents; my parents were born in same city and country. That’s what I interview for yesterday.

Personal Narrative Essay (draft revise)

          “BANG!!!” the glass broke. “What happen?” my father asked. It is a time when I got a very horrified accident. The time that made my face turn green, and it change me a lot. This story was about a year ago, when I was at my house and having fun with my family. I had a hamster and it was very cute. Then, I remember that I had to feed it very often. Because every night I always fed it pet foods, its cage was on the stairs. So, I had to go up the stair one step and gave it food. When I stepped down, I forgot that there was one more stair to step, but I didn’t. So, I fell down and my arm went straight down to the glass wine of my father. When I fell down, it was like I was flying. But then, BOOM!! The glass broke and cut my arm. The wine started to went out everywhere. On my clothes, I could only sense the smell of wine. My father turned back and asked, “What happened?” at that time; my face was green like sick people and I cannot say anything. Then, when my mom heard the broken of the glass, she started to run downstairs to see what’d happen. After that, my father said “Stand up, and why are you so careless” I started to stand up and I got cut really badly. The blood started to dripping down off my hand. My mom saw something red and lead to my position, so she came to me and checked me. She saw the cut of glass and she was very scared as well. Because the cut was very deep that I could even what inside it at the moment, it made me horrified. My father asked “What’s wrong with you, why are you feeding it so soon? Are you alright son?” I said nothing. My father told me to take the oil and put onto it. By using that method, it will be back to normal, soon. But my mom said no, she said that the cut was really deep, so I need to go to the hospital to sew it. When I heard that, I was really scared. Because I think that it was for real, so I told my parents that I will not going to the hospital to sew it. However, they said that if I’m not going to the hospital, it will not to be back in normal anymore. And they also injected in my arm a kind of medicine that was going to make my arm go numb in order to be painless during sewing. So, I was not scared anymore and I decided that I needed to get going to the hospital to sew it. Then, my father took me to the hospital near my house. And my father registered me to have a sewing surgery. And a doctor told us to go upstairs and talk to the people up there. So, we went up there, and asked the person in sewing room. Someone said that wait a minutes for a doctor to come upstairs. And she said that I can rest on the bed. So, I started to lie down on the bed and thinking how painful it can be. When the doctor came in, I was so nervous, but my father said that all I need to do is stay calm, it’s not going to be long. At first, they injected in my arm the medicine that my mother said it will led you feel nothing. When the medicine flows inside my hand, I could feel that it was just like an ant that is biting me. After that, the doctor started to sew my arm. I know nothing, but after a long time, I asked her “Are you sewing my hand right now?” She said “No, not yet” I think that she was lying to me, because sometimes I could feel the needle was like an ant’s biting me. It took a very long time to finish sewing my arm. And I was also really scared of that. My face was sweaty. After the doctor finished sewing my arm, I stood up and my arm got covered by a bandage. After that, my father paid the bill, and then I was waiting on the bench while my father was buying medicine for me to recover. I was very surprise as I think that we I won’t need the medicine for recovering. However, my father said that it will help me to recover more quickly. Finally, we went home, and my mom said that I have to take a bath because all of my clothes were really smelly which contain wine in them. While I was taking a bath, I couldn’t lead my injury to get wet. So I was very careful so that it won’t be getting wet. Then I changed clothes and the ground floor of my house downstairs really smells like wine. I was so scared but at that time I had been calm because everything was done. After that, when I was stepping down the stairs, I had the feeling that I miss 1 stair. I think that the injury has given me that feeling. It took me a long time to forget that annoying feeling. After this injury, I started to be more careful and most importantly, I have to look around whenever I walk or step. I don’t want this to ever happen again, because it was my most horrified accident. This story changes me the most, and my personality as well. Before that, whenever I was stepping up or down the floor, I stepped real fast and quick. Now, I understand that I will have to step very slow and with care not to be injured again

Flowers for Algernon Literary Focus Question

            I choose number 9 for my "Literary Focus" question.  I think that people who dislike others who are different from them are wrong. Because everyone in the community have the same right. Even they are different from us, but they still have brains and other things like other people. We should be friendly and nice to them. If we did that, they will nice and friendly back to us. They are not different, because that is their fate. Some people have the mental problem, some people have sickness that made them strange than other people. Like they lost one of body part, and some people have an age of thirty and above but they still short like a kid. They also have a feeling and thinking like us. So we need to make the happy like we are and do not dislike or make something bad to them. So, I have an example from the story, everybody always make joke on Charlie when he was dumb. And then later on, they don't play or talk with Charlie anymore, because he is same at other people. And his friends can't make fun of him anymore, so they don't like Charlie anymore. No, this is not the good choice, we need to be nice with Charlie and not make fun of him anymore. That are all I think for this question.
